ADOPT a FAMILY this CHRISTMAS!
This is a great project for Families, Friends, Co-workers, Neighbors & Small Groups!
After escaping violent homes, Moms struggle to
Create Christmas for their children. They'd give anything to be "normal" again - to have resources to Shop,
Wrap Gifts, Bake Cookies, Purchase a Christmas Tree, etc.
Finances weren't the only thing they lost after exposing the Violence They Were Experiencing - she had no
idea she'd lose friends, be so alone, poverty-stricken & exhausted.
These families aren’t
from someone else’s neighborhood or a lower class, they were living next door,
in school with our kids, driving carpool, working/volunteering with us. Many don’t fit into the mold of current
services, haven’t sought rooms @Shelters, don’t Stand In Line @Food Banks
(an exhausting all-day venture). After Attending Court, Caring For Kids,
Scrambling To Pay Bills, They're Drained.
Well-meaning programs offer gifts they HOPE kids will like – only to find they don’t fit or simply isn’t remotely what the child had wished for. Imagine if a stranger were to choose gifts for your children & you were just as surprised on Christmas Morning. It’s not that they aren’t Thankful -they're the most hard-working, creative, appreciative women I know, but they’ve been through a lot & have more to go through.
